Homework Week 1 - Thu 9/20:
- Practice & Memorize: 6 simple finals: a o e i u ü (Page F-9)
- Practice & Memorize: Group 1 initials: b p m f (Page F-5)
- Practice & Memorize: Group 2 initials: d t n l (Page F-5)
- Write: 10 sentences in Pinyin with English translation
It would be wonderful to have summary of what was covered in class as well, particularly any words introduced.
Class Week 1 - Thu 9/20:
Summary:
Covered sylabus, overview of Chinese phonetic system, simple finals,
group 1 & 2 initials, 4 tones, new words, new characters.
New Words:
Māma = Mother
Bàba = Father
pà = to be afraid
bóbo = uncle (Father's brother)
è = to be hungry
fā = to make fortune
le = past tense indicator
dìdi = younger brother
dǎ = to hit
lǘ = donkey
mǎ = horse
má = hemp
mà = to scold
Nǐ = you
Wǒ = I, me
bù = not
rén = person
lǎoshī = teacher
Xiǎolíng Chéng = ( our instructor, surname first, then given name)
